H-O-P-E CHALLENGE THIS WEEK!
Today's letter is E, which means for Every Penny Counts! We Want to Make Our $65,000 Goal, Help Us Get to $35,000 Before the Start of Relay Saturday Night!
Tuesday's letter was O, and we wanted everyone to OPEN up about their personal reason why they Relay.
Here are some of the replies we got back:
My relay truly begins with my Aunt Joyce. When she was diagnosed with cancer it opened my eyes to a world of strength and courage. She brings so much light and happiness into my own and my families world. Now that she is clear and a survivor, not only does she see the world and life differently, but me as well. I enjoy each moment I have with her. Every smile and laugh, even tears that we stare are sacred moments. She is an angel in my life, and if it weren't for her strength and the hope that relay gives us, she wouldn't be here. That is why I relay. I relay for the angels in others lives who deserve to bring light into the world as well. And most importantly, my Aunt Joyce.
I relay because a great friend, Julie, lost her battle with cancer. I also relay because my sister, Loretta, is a survivor and continues to fight!!
The Number One Reason I relay is in memory of my Mom, Pauline Grant, who died of Ovarian Cancer. I don't want any other daughters to lose their mothers to cancer. I don't want anyone else to lose their friends, sisters, brothers, parents, children or anyone close to them to this disease.
My name is Teressa and the reason I joined the Relay for Life is because I have been personally effected by cancer more than once. I also have several family members who have been affected by cancer. I am excited about giving back to others who are affected by cancer and walking for a cure. My team is Barnerageous and the reason I chose that name is because I personally had to be courageous in fight against cancer. All those who are affected by cancer and have to go through the process of chemotherapy, hormone therapy, radiation, mastectomies, biopsies, lumpectomies and any other form of surgery must often have courage and faith that they will get better and beat their cancer. My hope is that one day soon, there will be a cure that not only helps heal cancer but also helps in preventing cancer.
I relay to finish the fight so that we may live in a world with no cancer. I relay to be a part of something that is bigger than myself.
Yesterday's letter was P reminding everyone to PAY their registration fee online, $10 donation. Otherwise, entry to Relay will be $15 at the door. Online Registration will close on Friday, April 25th at noon and reopen the night of Relay.

In the fight against cancer, silence is the last thing we need. Your local American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is a great place to take action and make noise. The Relay For Life movement features community and campus events that offer an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer. Today, with the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer!
