As you know, we got rained on around 3:30AM. Sadly, it was not just rain but heavy rain accompanied by thunder & lightening. Because of this situation, Jill & I thought it best that we shut down Relay for the night. However, before we did, OUR Relay had raised over $125,000.00 with 368 participants and 57 teams. As we were packing up, Jill made a comment that we will be the Relay that never closes. That statement has resonated with me all week. We still have 7 months of Relay before our fiscal year ends (which this year has changed to December 31st!) to raise money for EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, RESEARCH and PATIENT SERVICES. So absolutely lets be the RELAY THAT NEVER CLOSES!!!
We're at $125,000.00 now but have plans to be at $168,800 by Dec. 31st. How are we going to do that you may ask? Well, don't forget the upcoming events we have planned and need your help with: BJs Raffle (just need to sell a few more tickets!), "Honor Someone You Love" Golf Tourney at Deer Run on Aug 31st; Bark For Life at Fort Whaley on Oct. 5th; and the biggy...this year our annual Holiday Wrappings Fashion Show will be credited to Relay For Life! So, mark your calendars and let us know if you'd like to help with the planning on these upcoming events that will farther our mission of saving lives! Also, please continue to share your upcoming fundraisers with us so we can share them thru email and Facebook.

The journey to end cancer starts with a single step. The American Cancer Society invites you to take that step with us by joining the global Relay For Life movement. When you walk to end cancer at a Relay event, it's your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost, but also to raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from cancer and raise money to help fuel the world's largest walk to end cancer.
