Dear Relayers,

Thank you for participating in Relay For Life of Shrewsbury!

Reminder, TONIGHT at 6:00 PM we have our final team meeting at St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury. Teams are encouraged to bring any offline donations and youth and chaperone forms to turn in as well as come pick up t-shirts if you have reached your $100 minimum fundraising total.

Please read through this information carefully and be sure to share it with any guests and cancer survivors you may have invited to enjoy the event with you:

ALL YOUTH TEAMS – High School and Younger: All youth forms, chaperone forms, and registration fees are due to the American Cancer Society office no later than Wednesday, May 8th at 4pm. ONLY those team members who have turned in a signed youth waiver and paid the registration fee will be allowed to stay over at the event Friday night. All others will be asked to leave at 11pm. If you have any questions or need to make special arrangements for your team, contact Susan Matano at the American Cancer Society at 508.270.4639 or susan.matano@cancer.org.

Teams can begin arriving and setting up their "sites" at 3pm this Friday, May 10th. Remember, you will be transporting your supplies to your site from the parking lot. Please keep this in mind in deciding what supplies you will be bringing with you and bring a wagon or hand truck to make the transporting much easier.

Only use standard size stakes for your tents. We cannot damage the sprinkler system under the field.

Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for seating while you’re at the event.

Turn in any cash and check donations at Registration.

Luminaria Bags will be available at the Information Tent for a $10 minimum donation.

Bring props for Theme laps – see attached Schedule of Events and the Theme Laps.

Bring snacks, water, and food for your team.

We are asking each team to donate a basket for a drawing. The value is a minimum of $25.00. It can be dropped off as early as 9:00 a.m. on Friday the 10th. There will be a sheet in the tent for you to put your teams name and what type of basket you donated.

We are asking that participants consider bringing a sweet treat for our 2nd annual sweet walk Saturday morning at 9 AM. For more details click HERE.

Click on this What to Bring to Relay list, so you will be all set with the items you may need.

Bring some extra cash for on-site fundraisers, board games for your team’s entertainment, iPods, and jackets in case the weather cools after sunset.

Relay For Life is a tobacco free and alcohol free event.

No pets and/or animals are allowed at Relay. Security will ask for their immediate removal.

Team Captains can pick up team shirts at the Information tent. Those who registered after May 1st are not guaranteed their preferred size although we will do our best to accommodate.

Individual teams are responsible for leaving their site cleaner than when they arrived. Trash bags will be available at the Information Tent.

For last minute day-of-event changes/announcements, please check the home page of the website

In case of severe weather, listen for instructions to move indoors to the gym or to your cars. Once the weather has passed, we will let everyone know that it’s safe to return to the field.

We’re looking forward to a fun and safe Relay For Life at Oak Middle School! And, no worries if you haven’t been able to do as much fundraising as you would have liked; following Relay, we’ll be sending some additional ideas of how you can support the fight against cancer over the next several weeks – any donations turned in by August 31st will count toward your totals for this year! Final Fundraising Club standings will be verified in September.

Do you have extra Relay materials lying around? We'll be happy to take them off your hands! Help us be good stewards of our donor dollars and take unwanted or unused materials to Relay! You can drop them off at the registration table.

Any additional questions can be sent to your staff partner – contact information below.

Have a great week and see you this Friday!

The journey to end cancer starts with a single step. The American Cancer Society invites you to take that step with us by joining the global Relay For Life movement. When you walk to end cancer at a Relay event, it's your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost, but also to raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from cancer and raise money to help fuel the world's largest walk to end cancer.
