An Important Message to Newton Relay For Life Supporters from Cheryl Jablonowski, 2013-2014 Newtown Relay Chair
For nine years the Newtown community has supported the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Together, we’ve saved lives, made friends, had fun, and come together for the common goal of putting an end to cancer. We’ve walked together, prayed together, mourned together, and had some downright silly times in between.
During this past year, we have been faced with a tragedy which has united our Newtown family more than ever. Through the sorrow, you were never far from a neighbor willing to share a hug, a story, a tear, or a prayer, and together, we persevered.
During the early stages of planning the 2013 Relay For Life, I was proud and excited to be associated with the 10th anniversary of the Relay For Life of Newtown, and believe me, I had some big plans. Then, in December, my plans and priorities changed. The celebration that I had envisioned now seemed selfish and insignificant, and I honesty did not know how the event could proceed.
With fellow committee members, we discussed what the Relay For Life could be in Newtown . . . and we have decided to postpone the 2013 Relay For Life . . . Click here read the entire message.
