The journey to end cancer starts with a single step. The American Cancer Society invites you to take that step with us by joining the global Relay For Life movement. When you walk to end cancer at a Relay event, it's your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost, but also to raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from cancer and raise money to help fuel the world's largest walk to end cancer.

COUNTDOWN 'TIL RELAY!!! HERE WE GO RELAYERS, HERE WE GO!!!

Our Relay is only a few hours away. We will once again transform MKA's Middle School field into our Relay arena, taking to the track, one survivor at a time, followed by one caregiver at a time, then team by team, participant by participant pledging to do all that we can to end this horrific disease. Each and everyone of you have done such a tremendous job this year. With all that we faced with super storm Sandy and other economic challenges you still managed to stay focused and commited to the cause. THANK YOU for being YOU!

Things you need to know:

Cheese puff toss

Supplies: whipped cream, chairs, cheese puffs

Set Up: each team designates one member to be the “tossee”-this person sits in a chair and his/her face is covered with whipped cream

Objective: the other team members line up and are given “x” number of cheese puff balls to toss at their team member from a designated spot-the goal is to get the cheese puffs stuck in the whipped cream

Winner: the team with the most cheese puffs stuck in the whipped cream

NOTE: be sure the “tossee” can still breathe-no whipped cream over nose/mouth

4:00 a.m.

Potato Golf

Supplies: one pair of panty hose per team, two potatoes per team

Set up: place one potato in the foot of each pair of hose. Tie one pair of panty hose around participant’s waist to where the potato is hanging in front of them ending a few inches above the ground. A second potato is then placed on the ground in front of each participant.

Objective: using no hands or feet, swing the panty hose to hit the second potato to move it forward

Winner: the first one to get the second potato across the finish line (10-15 feet away) wins

5:00 a.m.

Greased Watermelon Contest

Supplies: watermelon, vegetable oil

Activity: rub all watermelons with vegetable oil. Each team has an equal number of participants and is charged with passing the watermelon from person to person through the line and then back up to the front without dropping it.  If it is dropped, it goes back to the front of the line and is started again.

Winner: the team that is the first to successfully pass the watermelon down and back up w/o dropping it

(then there’s also watermelon to eat)
