The Relay For Life Juanita committee would like to thank EVERYONE who came out this past weekend to help us celebrate more birthdays.  We believe a wonderful time was had by all.

The fun is not over!  Everyone can still fundraise until August 31, 2013.  We surpassed our ACS goal of $65,000.  Our eyes are now on our "Gordy Goal" of $75,000.  Keep an eye on the Relay For Life Juanita Fundraising facebook page for more Relay fundraisers.

If you have a Relay For Life fundraiser coming up, be sure to let us know so that we can post it to help you out.

How do I Make Hope Happen?

By Dorie Ross

As an Event Chair for the first ever 2012 Juanita Relay for Life I logged more than 2000 hours building a Relay that brought in over $50K in revenue, 36 teams and over 400 walkers.  Most importantly less than 20 of those walkers had ever even been to a Relay, so we introduced over 380 NEW people to ACS and Relay for Life!

At Juanita High School our goals for 2013 Relay are lofty, but obtainable.  Our committee is excited to bring Relay to the community in an even bigger and better way this year.

Our commitment is to raise over $65K in revenue, have 40+ teams and honor 30+ Survivors during our Survivor Lap and Survivor luncheon.  We are also committed to making our event a Pacesetter Relay this year and we are well on our way to doing just that!

As the Event Chair I plan to empower my committee to reach their individual goals and be the best that they can be.  I also plan on introducing Relay to as many people as possible because after all, isn’t that what it is all about?  My mom, Sue, passed in October of 2008 to cancer.  I was diagnosed 3 months later, so this is very personal to me.

This is my second year on a Relay committee and my second year being an Event Chair.  I enjoy being active in a community where I grew up, supporting my #1 passion in life and introducing others to the Hope that Relay brings.  This is nothing short of amazing!

My name is Dorie Ross, and that is how I am Making Hope Happen!
