Plunging Tips

  • Plungers will line up on the beach to wait for their turn to plunge, so wear warm clothes over your swimwear for the wait. Don't forget a towel (or two)!
  • Water shoes or very thick socks are encouraged for plungers entering the water - sharp rocks can damage cold-numbed feet!
  • Costumes are encouraged!
  • NO ONE will be allowed to swim out past the docks to the ice on Boulder Reservoir. The safe, de-iced area will be clearly marked by cones and maintained by the Boulder Fire Department Dive Team. DO NOT attempt to swim past the end of the docks.
  • There will be a warming tent and warm showers available for plungers immediately upon exiting the water.
  • Volunteer at the event and stay DRY! Email Lisa at to get signed up!

Day-of Information and Tips

  • If you have pre-registered to take the plunge, we do not recommend arriving earlier than 11 a.m. If you have not yet registered to take the plunge, you should arrive earlier to ensure you have time to fill out the participant waiver and pay the fee.
  • There will be three food trucks selling food, coffee, and hot chocolate at the plunge. Be sure to bring money to take advantage of these yummy treats!
  • We will have a silent auction at the plunge, so come prepared to bid on some awesome items that have been generously donated to us by local businesses.

Fundraising Commitment
We challenge each participant to set a goal of $100. We have many tools to help you succeed and will be here to support you along the way.
