CPS-3 Information:

Thank you for your interest in the American Cancer Society's efforts to enroll members from the Augusta, Highland, Page and Rockingham community and surrounding areas in our national research project Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS-3) at the local level. We have secured enrollment sites at Augusta Health Hospital (Fishersville), Rockingham Memorial Hospital (Harrisonburg), the Waynesboro YMCA, and the Rockingham County Government Building.

The purpose of CPS-3 is to better understand ways to prevent cancer. It will help us better understand genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer and ultimately help to eliminate cancer as a major health concern.

There are several different ways to participate in this study as mentioned in the positions described on Page 2.

Participants in CPS-1 and CPS-2 were a vital part of discovering the link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer, the significant impact of obesity on the risk of dying from cancer, and the demonstrated impact of physical activity, diet, hormone use, other medications/vitamins, and various other factors in relation to cancer risk.

We hope you will join us through one of the following volunteer opportunities.
