Greetings, Relay For Life of Oak Brook Area Corporate…
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Relay great! It
was a little chaotic at first due to the threat of weather, but thanks to
amazing set up volunteers like Carolyn (who also helped the day before and kept
me sane,) Shalonda (who also helped secure the food vendors and rallied her
Doubletree Team to volunteer throughout the event) Melissa (along with her
Avenging Angels,) Sue (Luminaria – along with the fantastic young ladies I
grabbed off the track and who did a great job setting up “HOPE” on the hill)
and Bridget (children’s activities) as well as others – the event came
together. Thank you, too, to everyone
who helped clean up after the closing ceremony, especially Carolyn and Shalonda
who stayed until everything was packed as well as Arun and the Plane
Techs/Trans Techs/True Blue team who came back to help when they found out
there was just the three of us exhausted ladies left to finish.
Did any of you notice anything odd about your event t-shirt?
I found out at the end of the night that some of you received an “I88
Corporate” t-shirt rather than an “Oak Brook Area Corporate” one. There must
have been a mix up in our office during packing. Let me know if you got the
wrong one and I will send you the right one.
Because of all your fund raising efforts, so
far we have raised $70,850! We are so close to our $75,000 goal we can
taste it! In fact, if every person who registered for our Relay raised just $20
more dollars each, we would reach our goal. Please send out a message to
everyone you know to tell them about your Relay experience. Thank them for
their support if they donated and ask those who did not yet donate to support
your effort to help our event reach goal.
Remember to apply for all of those
matching gifts from employers – they really add up. Notify me when you apply so
I can tell our bookkeepers to watch for it. Donate on line at www.RelayForLife.org/OakBrookCorporateil
or mail checks (made out to the American Cancer Society) to 1801 S. Meyers Rd.
Suite 100, Oakbrook Terrace IL 60181. The more we raise the more lives we can
save!
Thank you to
everyone who raised funds to get us so close to our goal! If you raised $250 or
more, you will soon be receiving a certificate for a FUND RAISING PRIZE. If you
turn in additional funds that raise you to the next level, let me know and I
will send you a new certificate.

If you want to be part of the 2014 planning committee, we can really
use you to make the event run smoother and be even better. Contact me so we can
talk about your interests and schedule.
Remember, just because Relay 2013 is over doesn’t mean the
fight against cancer is. Please consider participating in the next Cancer Prevention Study to give
researchers vital information to make cancer a thing of the past. Contact me
any time you have questions.
See you at Relay For Life 2014!
