Remember.

remember When people gather at an American Cancer Society Relay For Life®, they come to share hope, celebrate those who are surviving cancer, and fight back against the disease. But, they also come to remember those who have been lost. Whether honoring them with the bright glow of hope during the luminaria ceremony or with moments of private thought, taking time to remember people who have lost their lives to cancer is an important part of Relay. It is because of them that we continue the fight and strive for a future where cancer is no longer a threat to the lives of our family and friends.

Relay is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a chance for caring people in a community to come together to remember and support each other. And support is crucial both for those who have lost a loved one and for those who are still battling the disease. At the American Cancer Society, the funds raised through Relay For Life® not only go to research, advocacy, and education, but also for vital programs and services that give people hope and answers. People who face cancer and those who care for them are confronted with many challenges. They often have to travel long distances for treatment. They have questions about what to do after a diagnosis. They need the most up-to-date facts about new treatments, and they need a reliable source of information and support that is accessible any time. Thanks to help from volunteers and donors, the American Cancer Society is reaching out to patients and families to help them learn about cancer, make informed decisions about the disease, connect with others, and find help and support in their own community no matter where they are in their cancer journey.

Relay For Life® is a time to remember the lives of those lost to cancer, but it is also an opportunity to spread hope for the future. By raising funds for the American Cancer Society and the important help and services it provides, those who take part in Relay are supporting the mission to save lives, diminish suffering, and once and for all eliminate cancer as a major health problem across the world.

The American Cancer Society offers services and programs across the nation. Call us at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org to find out about what kind of help is available in your community.
