Welcome

What if you could personally participate in research that could help determine factors that cause or prevent cancer? What if that research ultimately leads to the elimination of cancer as a major health problem for future generations? This year, you can be a part of this historic research effort by enrolling and encouraging others to enroll in the American Cancer Society’s third Cancer Prevention Study (CPS-3).

By joining CPS-3, you can help us understand how to prevent cancer, which will save lives and give people more of their most precious resource: time. More time with their families and friends, more memories, more celebrations...and more birthdays.

Enrollment will take place at 17 Relay For Life events throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania this year.

Who can join the study?
Anyone between the ages of 30 and 65 who has no personal history of cancer (this does not include basal or squamous cell skin cancer) and be willing to make a long-term commitment to the study which simply involves completing periodic follow-up questionnaires. 

How can you participate?
You can enroll at any of the Relay For Life event’s listed below. Enrollment is a simple, two-phase process:  

• At Relay, you will be asked to complete a brief survey, provide some physical measurements (such as waist size, weight, height, blood pressure, and heart rate), and give a small amount of blood (similar to a doctor’s visit), collected by a certified, trained phlebotomist.
  
• At home, you will receive periodic follow-up surveys, which will ask for information on lifestyle, behaviors, and other factors related to your health. Participants will also receive annual newsletters about ongoing research from Cancer Prevention Studies.

Lives have been saved and more birthdays celebrated as a result of our research. CPS-3 will help save even more lives. If you are interested in becoming a member of this historic study, please see the list of locations below that will be conducting CPS-3 enrollment.
