Relay For Life® is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people each year to:
- Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors and caregivers inspires others to continue to fight.
- Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have lost family and friends to cancer can grieve and find healing and support.
- Fight back against a disease that takes too much. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and are committed to putting an end to the disease.
For 25 years, Relay For Life® has been uniting communities in the largest grassroots movement to fight cancer. Visit http://www.RelayForLife.org/ to learn more about how Relay is changing lives and how you can help celebrate, remember, and fight back.
Relay For Life® is an event to celebrate the lives of anyone who has battled or is continuing to fight their battle with cancer. Relay is a time to honor cancer survivors and the many caregivers who have provided countless hours of care and support. Every cancer journey is different and no matter how difficult the fight we celebrate those touched by the disease and the hope their stories provide.
There are many reasons to celebrate in the fight against cancer. The nearly 11 million cancer survivors living in the United States today are proof that together, we’re making a difference. Thanks in part to the American Cancer Society and the more than $3.2 billion we have invested in cancer research, more is known about the prevention, early detection, and treatment of the disease than ever before. The progress we are making together means that we may have more survivors to celebrate at Relay For Life® events each year.

Taking time to remember people who have lost their lives to cancer is an important part of Relay For Life®. We honor them by continuing our fight against this disease and with our efforts to achieve a day where cancer no longer threatens the lives of our family and friends. Whether honoring them with the bright glow of hope during the Relay For Life® luminaria ceremony or with quiet moments of personal thought, Relay makes certain that those we have lost to cancer will never be forgotten.
In communities across the globe, the American Cancer Society offers people opportunities to fight back against cancer. Relay For Life® empowers you to continue that fight by making a personal pledge to help beat the disease. By participating in Relay For Life® and raising much-needed funds and awareness to eliminate cancer, you are already fighting back. Whether it is using your voice to advocate for all people to have access to quality cancer care, getting recommended cancer screenings and encouraging others to do the same, maintaining a healthy weight through proper diet and exercise, participating in other American Cancer Society events, or volunteering to help people facing cancer in your community, we offer many ways for you to fight back against cancer year-round.
