"Relay represents an opportunity to channel all of the emotions I feel into a positive force for change when it comes to the course of cancer."

California Division Team Blitz: Week 3 update
The Blitz is heating up! As we expected, all of your efforts in focusing on team recruitment are starting to pay dividends. 622 new teams have been recorded for this year's Blitz and that puts us at about 25% of our goal.
We should all be proud of the new relationships we are building, but I want to ask all of you who are working so hard on this campaign to keep it up!
Remember, we are shooting for 2,500 new teams by February 23rd, so let's be sure to keep our recruitment efforts at full speed.
Last year our staff and volunteers did the unheard of, recruiting 3,000 new Relay teams and sustaining our programs and staff. Mobilizing that same commitment and expertise is critical to our ongoing success.
Our combined efforts to recruit 2,500 new Relay fundraising teams will save lives and create a world with more birthdays. It is imperative that new teams raise funds to move our mission. By reaching this goal the California Division can raise $1 million for our lifesaving programs.
What is the Blitz 2.0? From January 11th to February 23rd all staff and volunteers are asked to recruit five new team captains for 2010 Relays. Fundraising team captains must be willing to recruit 10 - 15 team members who will raise a minimum of $100 each.
The California Division goal is 2,500 new fundraising teams statewide.

Together, we will eliminate cancer. We save lives and create more birthdays by helping you stay well, helping you get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. Won't you join us? Team Captains Meetings Each Relay event hosts info sessions to provide you with all you need to know before you hit the track! Check your event’s website or contact us to get the dates. Check out the Team Toolkit page for more resources.
Include everyone- Think of everyone you know as a potential team member. Relay is a non-competitive walk; anyone can be part of this great community experience.
Ask Family & Friends- Expand your team roster by including spouses and other family members. Other potential walkers can be found at your place of worship, doctor’s office, neighborhood etc.
Recruit your co-workers- Arrange an employee presentation at a work meeting or lunch. Tell your co-workers what Relay For Life is all about. Try to set up a challenge between departments. Ask your company to sponsor your team (or pay the reg fee).
Ok, got my team, what's next?
Pay Tribute - You can dedicate your team to a loved one lost, someone you know currently dealing with cancer, or a cancer survivor.
Set fundraising goals - Start with each participant setting a personal fundraising goal of at least $100, and then set a team goal.
Encourage team members to meet their goals by being in constant communication with them. Remember, $100 is the minimum to get your Relay For Life T-shirt!
