Dear Relayer,

What is the difference between ordinary and EXTRAordinary? That little extra. Here are 5 tried-and-true ideas that could give your team the spark necessary for EXTRAordinary FUNdraising results. EXTRAordinary is exactly what's needed to keep even with the growing demand for our lifesaving services. Do you have a upcoming fundraising event? We want to hear about it! Please email us! You may just see your special fundraising opportunity featured in our next FUNdraising Fridays email!

Plan your work, then work your plan!
Step one is already done if you follow this one-month FUNdraising plan. Tweak it to fit your goal, then work it one day at a time.

The Power of One (or Two) More
Do you have fewer than 15 people registered on your team? If you just nodded yes, please consider making the recruitment of one or two more team members a top priority. The math is pretty convincing: 2 people raising $100 each = one great fundraising boost + the enthusiastic spirit new members bring to the team. This is a case where more is definitely better!

Batter Up!

Team Quest for a Cure from the Relay For Life of Greater New Bedford, MA, represents an elementary school and their families. They held a parent/ teacher softball game at the end of the school year. It was coordinated with the local Little League parents. Each participant was asked to donate $20 to play; many donated more than that! They also had a snack table and a 50/50 raffle. The winner turned her winnings back to the Relay! Joyce and her team raised $900 that day. It is now an annual event!

Make that "Extra" Ask - Take the 10 x 10 x 10 Challenge

Here's your chance to go from good to EXTRAordinary. Send 10 emails asking for $10 for 10 days in a row. If only one out of four people do what you ask, you'll have raised $250. What kind of return rate do you think you could get? There is only one way to know for sure . . .give it a try!

Crop for the Cure!
Kelly with Team Optumizers from the UnitedHealth Group Corporate Relay in Connecticut has joined forces with a local scrapbook store to host  “Crop for the Cure.”  They charge $40 for a day of scrapbooking, $30 of which goes directly to Relay. During the event they sell completed layouts for $5, and they host a silent auction and drawing, as well. The time and all prizes are donated so that all the money raised goes directly to the American Cancer Society.
